07 JAN 06

I was shooting with my G6 yesterday and the LCD panel simply split apart as I was turning it to the 180º position
It hadn't been dropped (that I KNOW of) and there was no warning this would happen
Luckily it is less than a year old
So I took it back to where I got it (Best Buy)

They can't or won't fix it but instead chose to trade it out for an equal valued camera (the G6 is no longer available . . PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE!!!)

So I opted for the S2 IS . . . fewer mp's than the G6 (5 compared to 7)

But it has a better zoom (12X optical as compared to 4X)

And OF COURSE the batteries and memory cards are not interchangeable
So now I have three Canon proprietary batteries and three 1 GB ultra memory cards that are useless
I don't know if I did better or worse

But now I have another new camera to get used to

I changed the foto to B&W in Mode, then again changed back to RGB in mode and adjusted the color hues to mostly blues
Then played with curves to get this result

The original is here

Olympus C-740UZ
0.62s f/3.2 at 6.3mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Nice photoshopping. I think you did better. Everything now takes XD cards and you would have had to upgrade eventually. You're gonna love the zooooommmm!

That's a low blow, however it may turn out for the best, Pete. I like this funky blue look you have managed !! Good luck with it.

Very cool pic.
Hope you have lots of fun with your new camera. If I had US $ I'd buy a flash card :-)

If you don't have a video camera, I would say you came out a head. The optical zoom alone is worth it.
Cool photo, it looks solarized.

I would buy your CF cards. I would say the IS would be a nice feature to have with that long zoom.

Does your G6 use the Canon BP-511 batteries? If so, I might be interested in buying the batteries which I think interchange with my Canon Digital SLRs. Leave me a message one way or the other. I think you are in the VB area...
