This image is nicely balanced, and you chose wisely to let the shadows fade to black rather than blow out the highlights.
Question about the desaturation: Did you desaturate in the camera, or later in Photoshop (or something of its ilk)? To get the cloud detail, did you use a red filter, or a red adjustment layer before desaturating?
Unlike too many B&W images from digital cameras, you've really created some fine contrasts and textures here. It looks like a Red 25 filter on a good B&W film. Brava!
