Kobe, Japan view map

The recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake in China rocks the whole world.

On 17 Jan 1995, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Japan destroyed Kobe and
took away 6,400 people's lives.

The memorial park maintains a small part of the destruction caused by the earthquake.

They are very impressive those earthquakes, us here in Canada, we don't have any big like this. Sometimes the ground shakes a bit, not more! An very impressive picture, V

Hi CM,
Such horrible devastation. Earthquakes have to be one of the worst of disasters. This is an excellent capture. \/

Such a timely reminder... hope we can do more to help the people in quake-devastated Sichuan.

A great memorial zone, well preserved for others to see the results of a strong earthquake. V

Amazing memorial park to remember the earthquake. Your image shows it very well. Makes you think how powerful the earth is and how dangerous it is living in an earthquake area. Thank you for posting this. "V"
