Standing at the sea, this vermilion coloured O-Torii Gate is known as a symbol of Miyajima.
The gate appears to be floating at high tide;
when the tide is low,
the gate is surrounded by mud and can be accessed on foot from the island.
Most visitors place coins in the cracks of the gate legs and make a wish.
The gate was illuminated by powerful lights on the shore.
