The Place de la Concorde is located in the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées.
During the French Revolution the statue of King Louis was torn down and the area renamed "Place de la Révolution". The King Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie Antoinette were excuted there on 21 January 1793 and 16 October 1793 respectively.
