Photos of the log trains operating on the ex-Milwaukee trackage from near Centralia to Tacoma Washington in the early 1980's. The Weyerhaeuser operations at Curtis and at Vail had fed into the Milwaukee RR and later the Chehalis Western RR for transport to the Tacoma area from approximately 1981 to 1992.

When the Milwaukee RR ceased it's western extension operations in 1980, Weyerhaeuser Corporation purchased additional equipment and trackage to continue transporting logs to it's facilities. A pair of Milwaukee cabooses soldiered on into the Weyerhaeuser Era but were soon replaced with three new cabooses, shown crossing Stevens Pass during delivery.

In addition, new GP38's were delivered in 1981 in EMD primer yellow, then later re-painted with a simple but classy lettering scheme at the WeyCo Vail Shops in the fall of 1981.
