I took a moment to celebrate after reaching the Arctic Circle marker on the Dempster Highway in the Yukon Territory. I had suffered my first of three flat tires for the trip the night (never really dark) before, and slept in my vehicle while waiting for the tire repair facility to open in Eagle Plains during a very windy and cold rain storm. The wildlife and scenery observed while along the Dempster to the Northwest Territory border was nothing short of amazing, and well worth the considerable expense to accomplish the trip.
