November 4 2003:
Steps and Spire

Woking, Surrey

Here’s a photo I’ve thought about taking for years. It first caught my eye when it was featured on a very unusual TV programme about 20 years ago – the BBC actually did one on amateur photography which was hosted by DJ Dave Lee Travis. "Hey, that’s the reflection of Woking’s church in the bhs store", I remarked!
I’ve desaturated this and turned up the contrast to 36 in Photoshop so it's probably quite different from that image beamed across the nation all those years ago. Its been a good day for me, as I also captured the shot for my ‘famous’ category for ’26 Things 2’, but you’ll have to wait a while before I reveal that. Yippee!

As a fan of reflections in buildings, I really love this shot. The contrasting shapes of the old looking spires within the more contemporary glass reflection somehow demonstrates to me that there is still a presence of the good old architecture enduring amidst the modern day world, and that pleases me. Is this in London?

This photo is so good. I keep trying to find which staircase leads where!

What a stellar photo, Ray!! The geometry, contrasts and reflections of this image are simply wonderful. And I totally salute your decision to desaturate this - very artistic! Well done!

Hey Ray
That is a Grand shot - so many, many things going on in it, yet everything fits perfectly, once you get to look at the whole picture. I found that hard though at the beginning as I got distracted by the many sperate items, each and everyone screaming for my attention. The finish is superb.

Wow, Ray that's pretty awesome. GREAT shot. And to have captured a 26 things shot as well.. I need to get moving! I have yet to start my 26 things, although I have spent alot of time looking at the list....

Is anyone keeping a list of 26 Things Part 2 on PBase?
