November 3 2003:
Concorde Sunset

Chobham Common, Surrey

I shot this on the way back from a special mission, but one in which the use of my film camera was essential and therefore not suitable for “What I Saw Today”. But there is a powerful link, as beyond today’s sunset had flown the Concorde on its way from London’s Heathrow Airport to preservation at Boeing Field, Seattle via New York JFK. Having missed all three Concordes land after their last fare paying runs two Fridays ago, I’m glad I made it today.
My understanding of the final flights is this, but you must check elsewhere that this is correct!
All times are local times.
New York JFK: Monday 3 November arrives and departs 5 November for Seattle (Boeing Field)
Seattle Boeing Field: Wednesday 5 November arrives 15.00
Heathrow: Monday 10 November 15.00 departure to New York
Heathrow: Monday 17 November 11.20 to Barbados
Heathrow: Wednesday 26 November 11.20 to Bristol (Filton)
Bristol Filton: Wednesday 26 November 12.00 arrival

I love watching sunsets, thank you! And what do you know, the sunset was taken on the same day as my birthday, hehe...Once again i am awed by the powerful intense glow of the sun. In today's darkness, there still remains a light...

Thank you Ray. I don't think we have had the Dusk of a new era before!!

That is a great spot to take sunset photos. I'm not so sure I'd take 200 photos there, but I'd take at least a dozen.

This really is spectacular! I also love that you tell a little story with some of your photos. Makes it interesting!

Thanks Guys: I met an elderly guy up there who said he had taken 200 sunset photos from this one spot. It is just by the London to Southampton motorway and I had planned to get the sunset from a nearby bridge with the glistening cars also. That's right, I'll be back! ~~~Ray.

A fine sunset, indeed. I like the transition to the blue sky and white clouds at the top of the frame.
