Chesil Beach is a shingle spit which is the only natural connection between the 'mainland' and Portand in Dorset. The road connection between the two uses a short bridge over the water but the spit itself extends for 18 miles (29 km). A footbridge giving access to the spit from a car park is in the foreground of my photo.
