Wings of a Dove

Bedfont, England view map

The Collared Dove has expanded its range amazingly. When I was born, you'd be extremely lucky to see one in Britain, as it had not yet bred here, it basically being an Asiatic bird that didn't really live in Europe until the 20th Century.

In addition to seeing them all over Europe and parts of North Africa, they also live in North America, but these are introduced birds that apparently are descended from escapees from the Bahamas.

Sadly now considered pests in certain areas, they are so beautiful.
We have a pair that sit on our nearby telegraph wires.

I remember being quite excited first time I saw one, now they are really common.

We have Collared Doves in South Texas, but our native White Winged Doves are very assertive and often push the Collared Doves out. V
