An excerpt from one of my Dad's diaries. On 17th February 1935 he cycled from his home to London Bridge, then caught the train to a village near Dorking in Surrey. He then cycled to Leith Hill.

He mostly cycled the whole distance to places, sometimes further out than this, but I imagine being winter, he let the railway help him out.
