Just like my own town of Woking, the Oxted we know today came with the railway and the original settlement that bore that name has been given the 'Old' prefix, it being a short distance away.
Since the railway did not reach here until 1884, it will come as no surprise that this is just a 'fake' Tudor building. This rather unusual looking cinema actually dates from the 1920s. It is part of the Everyman chain that prides itself on quality and individuality.
