Winchelsea

East Sussex view map

Winchelsea is quite unusual for an English village as it opted for a grid system of roads - in the 13th century! It was actually a new town then replacing the old one which was flooded.

This building is The Armoury, dating from around the 14th century but with some 18th century elements too. Note the covered well nearer the camera.

What a dream house...
Simply lovely.
I would sooo love to go inside,
feel the light, hear the floors
and smell the air.

Nice to read the historical note alongside.
It brings the place alive for me.

It's a private residence then ? It's so appealing. Another name we share..Winchelsea is a town in Victoria, not far from Wensleydale :)
