forgot to mention...this was taken at midday in full sunshine. The lighting was my own artistic impression....otherwise the shot was incredibly boring. I mean VERY boring. Now it's slightly less boring.

Agree with Ray. I first wondered what they're for and they did remind me of those commonly found in Muslim mosques and Indian temples. Guess you might have taken this shot in Malaysia. Very effective vignetting and great lines.

In another culture this may very well be used to wash one's feet before prayers. So this, indeed, is an ironic statement about the sacred and the profane. How can one then not take this serously?
