Several movies have been made using the Castle, the Highlander and also a recent James Bond movie.

The Castle is setting on an island on the shores of Loch Duich. It was orginally established in 1230 by Alexander II to protect the area from Vikings.

The view was breathtaking, it wasn't until we stopped for a photo, did we notice this Artist capturing this beautiful view.

Skye Bridge in the background, we drove through the Kyle of Lochalsh and then over the bridge to the Isle of Skye.

Our little car was a Mazda Automatic, I couldn't imagine trying to learn how to drive on the left and shift with my left hand all in the same trip. The Heather was still in bloom in some parts of the Highlands.

The view from the top of the Red Hills down to the Elgol pier was really stunning. This is where we caught the Bella Jane for our trip to Loch Coruisk.

As you can see from Karen's attire and the clounds in the background, the weather was a bit brisk. The scenery was still beautiful, I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in sunny weather.

With the clouds starting to close in,the winds howling, and the light starting to fade, we were startled to see what looked like "Nessie" starting to dive under?

There is a colony of about 100 Sea Lions that live on Loch Coruisk.

After our 1 hour excursion walking around, the Bella Jane was a welcome sight, especially when we were within 50 feet the skies opened up and it really started raining. The crew was also picking up about 12 hikers and backpackers that had been camping for 3-4 days.

Can be seen in the Highland fog in the background. The Old Man is 185 feet and is shaped like a willow leaf.

The waterfall was spectacular and dropped 300 feet to the sea below.

Was really beautiful with the sun shining on it. It is a tube like column of basaltic rock.

The village of Portree had these very colorful shops down by the harbor.

This nightshot of the harbor was shot from our room at the Royal Hotel.

Our hotel that we stayed at in Portree is in the Upper Left corner, the large white 2 story. The Royal Hotel was a nice place, had good food in the bar, and was a good base camp to travel around Skye from.
