I sense a certain antipathy in the air
toward one who claims to be a morning glory.
Night owls rule the roost, and who’s to say
which is better? There is a trend
that lends a certain glamour to the dark.
It becomes us. A human opens up 
when night approaches, more evening primrose 
than morning glory. Early to bed and early to rise 
does not apply. The eyes see more at midnight.
We long to be spared the tyranny of the alarm clock.
So have yourself a BLT for breakfast
and when confronted by my bright Good Morning 
please don’t scowl. Just sigh and mutter 
something like, If you say so.
