I sense a certain antipathy in the air
toward one who claims to be a morning glory.
Night owls rule the roost, and who’s to say
which is better? There is a trend
that lends a certain glamour to the dark.
It becomes us. A human opens up
when night approaches, more evening primrose
than morning glory. Early to bed and early to rise
does not apply. The eyes see more at midnight.
We long to be spared the tyranny of the alarm clock.
So have yourself a BLT for breakfast
and when confronted by my bright Good Morning
please don’t scowl. Just sigh and mutter
something like, If you say so.
