This is an image of the charter granted by King David I of Scotland to Robert de Brus 1st Lord of Annandale. It entrusted de Brus with the lands of Annandale. His name would become Anglicized to Bruce with one of his descendants becoming King Robert I of Scotland whose descendants gave rise to the ill-fated Stewart kings.
