Taking while mounted on my horse shooting with backlighting.
Canis latrans, Dog Family, Native to California & Mt. Diablo.
Resembles a small German Shepher dog but has a longer nose & a black tipped, bushy tail. Their voice is high-pitched & yodel-like yap. They hunt small animals such as rabbits, young deer, sheep, mice & birds. They will also feed on dead animal carcasses.
I think being mounted on the horse was the only way I could have gotten this as I was able to aim the camera down so not as much flare as I would have gotten if I was on foot. (And much braver...don't know if I would have wanted to pause so long if I was on foot!) Bit noisy...but liked the stare!
