Black-tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus)

I was just starting out on a trail ride on my horse & between the stable on the trail to North Gate Rd. in Mt. Diablo State Park, saw this fellow. Took this picture while mounted on my Arab mare who stood patiently.
