Prairie Chicken Gives Birth to a Cyclist

Rothsay, Minnesota

13 feet tall, this 9,000 pound creature was designed & built by Art Fosse as Rothsay's contribution to America's 1976 Bicentennial.
A bronze plaque in front informs all that, "On June 10, 1975, Rothsay was designated Prairie Chicken Capital of Minnesota."

How funny!!! It does look like this giant cartoon prairie chicken IS giving birth (or pooping out) a human. Your scan of an old image is excellent. The sculpture is a very unusual (and unique) Bicentennial tribute.

How cool is that. And an excellent scan from what was obviously a pretty decent photo taken 35 years ago!
