~ A bit of a story behind this particular Blue Angel ~
This Blue Jay is a friend of mine.lol I rescued it as a baby but never human imprinted in any way except with my voice, 2 words and a particular whistle. The words were "Peanut & Hello", the whistle is a mimic I do of a jay's friendly whistle to another bj. I rescued him after a bad storm when his nest fell out of a tree. The tree was badly torn apart but I knew his parents would be nearby. So I carefully placed the nest in a safe branch near the original. Only spoke 2 words in whispers to it (like the parents do). I'd go out 3-4 times a day to feed it and prayed the parents would find him. A couple of days later they did and took over their duties. In due time, the birds left for the country side but every single spring and fall, Peanut (he responds to the name) returns with his mate and offspring. It's going on 5 years now and each time he comes, he calls to me from outside. So, I start the procedure over again...peanuts in the window for him and his family. Often he sits on the nearest branch and whispers back to me for up to 5-6 minutes. :-)

Great accompanying story, Carol. Interesting photos, too. I always used to think of bluejays as being mean and nasty (especially to other birds) so I'm glad to know about your experience with this one. Touching. V

Bluejay looks great! Are you shooting from inside? Everytime I get close they take off...got one in a tree today but as soon as he saw me, off he went! Great capture and he is intent on getting something to eat! V

Do you have a feeder on your window sill?
