Nature reclaims once again what was once hers. "Lighthorse" Harry Lee - father of General Robert E. Lee - came to Cumberland Island to die. He became ill on a cruise to the Indies and requested that he be taken to the island to live out his remaining few days. He died less than a month after coming to the island. His son visited his graveside on the island several times.
