From the front door, there is a straight view to the back door. In Florida, we called these shotgun houses - you can shoot a gun from the front door and it will pass straight through the back door. Of course, the purpose was not to be able to shoot out your back door but to provide a nice cross breeze through the house when the doors were opened - pioneer air conditioning and much cheaper!
