I never gave it much thought. Nature has so much variety that I just figured "that's the way they are" (though I've never seen them with blue and purple accents). I do know that the places that sell pumpkins charge more for them. Call me cheap, or unfair to farmers, but I'm happy to pay $5 per pumpkin ~2 weeks before Halloween. Many people paid a long more 3-4 weeks ago, and their pumpkins are now rotting (probably accelerated by the warm weather.).
Oh, I think this is cross bred cross bred until they could maximize this effect...I am certain that this is not harmful to anyone...maybe these are seed pods moved from the interior to...Pumpkin Pox....(grin) Traveller
Have you ever asked yourself “I wonder what makes these pumpkins grow this way”?
I have and I still don’t know if it’s an odd viral thing, some kind of insect infestation or maybe even humans in lab coats messing around with the genetic structure of the plant.
