As I noted to you in my response email, it isn't so much the reduced size of the building, it is its physical existence that imposes...some strict weirdness's....

I have posted images before and after over on Exhibition.

T - I sent you an email. I can not believe it has 10,000 fewer square feet of gallery space. That's huge.

It is actually on a busy sidewalk....set off by maybe two feet from the street side curb...I think it leads to the subterranean vault and or other structures at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art....on the other hand there is a similar one on the other side of busy Wiltshire Blvd next to the new Metro Station so it could also be related to this new urban feature.

By the Way, I've been to LACMA two times now and I must note...my utter revulsion for the 750M$ new Geffen building as the main structure at LACMA...my first visit at the opening I thought of it as Event Art...which I don't like or agree with, but still from a public perspective, this is acceptable...

On my second more contemplative visit this weekend...I hate the curation...it seemed to me as the facile and dishonest use of Art...the galleries within, except for the very tiny Dutch Masters room, which maybe worked because it was/is walled off from the rest of the Museum, were bombastic and often a lie.

What an utter waste to destroy a good/great museum for this!

Now you have me confused as well. I had figured it is on the floor, as the signage can be read from both directions. However, the words on the side say "Door may open suddenly". There are 7 hinges on each door. So it would flip up if it is on the floor. And why is it called "Exit"?

The way you’ve photographed it gives me the illusion it’s in a floor but common sense says it’s a wall. Or am I wrong, again? Paul
