The Chaotic Difficulity of Shooting My Flitty Birds...

...their flying patterns are truly essay's in chaos...this bird feeder of mine is new...I have always complained that there are no birds in CA like back east...this is true enough, but these small sparrows (?) go through pounds of seed like you wouldn't believe. Traveller

Good point, I am already on my third 5lb bag...but I don't want to be married to my birds either...I could be feeding them every day...I wonder where all the seed goes? I only ever see a few...I almost sense they are coming in at night and robbing me blind. Traveller

I don't recall the amounts I bought - but they were large during the winter time. I kind of recall 10 or 20 lb bags.

I will just say that the 1.5 pounds I put out yesterday is gone already...my birds are pigs!

In MN, I used to put out 3-4 different kinds of bird food. It increases the fights with squirrels, but it is worth it. My birds could also be picky - they preferred one kind of peanut butter flavored suet to another.

I agree with Jim, small seed small birds. Big seed bigger birds. How about hummingbirds, are they common to the LA area, I’d imagine they would be and they are fun to watch. Paul

Try something different - like sunflower seeds and suet.
