Actually I meant to say Kansas....though Jim on Texas is more right, per his usual.

Yet, there have been an inordinate set of western movies set in Kansas, this is what I was getting at...Kansas used to very Wild Country!

Classic Kansas Westerns

Dodge City (1939): A classic Errol Flynn film centered on the lawless cattle town.
Wichita (1955): Stars Joel McCrea as Wyatt Earp, bringing law and order to the town.
Kansas Pacific (1953): Follows the construction of the Kansas Pacific Railway, facing sabotage from Southern sympathizers.
Abilene Town (1946): Focuses on the conflict between cattlemen and farmers in post-Civil War Kansas.
The Jayhawkers! (1959): Set in pre-Civil War Kansas, exploring the turbulent territory era. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Modern/Revisionist Kansas Westerns

Dances with Wolves (1990): Opens with Lt. John Dunbar being assigned to a remote fort in Kansas.
Ride with the Devil (1999): Examines the Civil War border war between Kansas and Missouri.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007): Features scenes set in Missouri and Kansas.
True Grit (2010): Set on the border between Arkansas and the Indian Territory (close to Kansas). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Border War & Historical

Dark Command (1940): A Western dealing with the Civil War era on the border.
Kansas Raiders (1950): Follows Jesse James and his gang during the Civil War.
Seven Angry Men (1955): Focuses on abolitionist John Brown's role in "Bleeding Kansas". [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Many of these films, while set in Kansas, were famously filmed in other locations such as South Dakota (Dances with Wolves) or Arizona. [1, 2, 3]

Texas would be more likely. Maybe some of those ranchers out in mid and Western Kansas. Remember that song by Uriah Heep Stealing, highly likely with that scenario. Paul

And it’s sitting on a flagstone patio, how perfect is that.

If the guy or one of his security cameras caught you “creeping around” he might suspect you’re ratting him out to the city.

I considered calling the city on my neighbor across the street (a second of one of those hostel style rental homes next to me) because in the front yard in one area the grass, should I say weeds were knee high. I sent him a message offering to mow it for $40.00 but never heard back. Then a few days later a young family living around the corner pushing a mower up the street stopped and talked to one of the residents and within a hour they were back mowing, blowing and trimming it. I stopped and hung a U-Turn to try to shoot this lovely old historic house where the owner allows his front yard to go wild...this lasts for about 7~9 months, then the city will cite him on safety concerns...but when it is overgrown it is fabulous.

I was creeping around shooting the house and...presto, there was this tucked away antique wrought iron bench...which then became the subject I was going to and did shoot.

Serendipity

I love that bench. Looks like a great place to relax and contemplate life.
