A post Not for Dave! Though I do thank him for the Shiva link)

Be that as it may, for a different view and consequences for the living...see Shiva Baby...great fun, I thought.

Though I see this as a broad comedy, one critic maybe correctly labeled this thusly:

"This is a solid horror film masquerading as a comedy."

I want to thank you for the link too. On a different topic I hope that wasn’t your synagogue that was attacked yesterday. Paul

Dave,
Thanks for the link. It becomes especially a good time to read about this, as one of my good friends here passed away early Thursday morning. Like most of my friends here, he was over 75. He was not in the best of health, but still good enough that he was planning to play Sat am with "the group of guys". We will begin the celebration of his life right after the round.

It is a shiva candle, and every shot I took has the light from the flame in front of the blue lines on the sticker outside the glass. Some kind of "glow-through" effect?

Thanks for your wishes, everyone. An explanation for those interested: https://reformjudaism.org/beliefs-practices/lifecycle-rituals/death-mourning/everything-you-need-know-about-jewish-custom-shiva?

A fine shot of this special candle.
It is an interesting visual 2D capture of a 3D object.

Dave, take comfort in the good things of life.

Not sure I have the name correct and but I think this is a shiva candle that is burned for several days (5 or 6???) after a Jewish burial and pertains to the mourning period.

I too am somewhat confused about the visual, the star appears to be a label appeared attached to the back side of the candle glass but it must be a special kind of translucent wax for the star to show through. Although it does appear the blue is slightly more contrasted above the wax line. Again Dave, my heart goes out to you and all your family. Paul

I am more use to Catholic Colored Saint Candles....but what is interesting to me about this is how the flame seems to reach from inside the Star of David to the center left outside the lines of the Star....if this is a decal on the outside of the glass candle holder, this should not be physically possible...you're breaking the rules of Physics here...careful now! I don't want our world swallowed up in some space/time anomaly...Protect us here, Dave! Best Wishes, Traveller
