Thanks, Traveller. I never considered that the Thwaites Glacier was aligned with the US's mountain time zone, and I'm intrigued how it may factor into the next challenge. I'm curious why the ship departed from New Zealand when South America was considerably closer and guess it had something to do with the vessel.

During my more touristy trips to Antarctica, clocks (at least the ones I saw and possessed) remained at the same time as the Argentinian port from which we departed. And I probably forgot to adjust the time zone on my cameras.

Yes, and also much less crowded. Additionally, we structured our visit around our son's shift schedule. He was off for a few days and then worked Christmas Day.

I have always liked the gradations in the sky's horizon when flying...incidentally, I have generally found tickets less expensive for flying on Christmas Day and other holidays...true for you? Traveller
