Another “Fake” Tree

Can’t remember the last time we had a live Christmas tree for Christmas. Might have been when I was a kid and took a bow saw into the neighbors north 40 and cut down a western red cedar tree.

Paul - yes, simple is good these days. Our tree is also in 3 sections, with color guides on which plug goes where. The hardest part I have is to mount the large star on the skinny top.

The tree lights are pre wired with LED bulbs and has 3 sections. The tree trunk/shaft automatically plugs power into the next section which makes it simpler, I like simple these days. Paul

Are the lights on this one built-in, or did you string separately? We also have an artificial tree, but we string the lights on it ourselves. I like the scallion suggestion. We do the glass of water trick to revive celery that has wilted, but I've never thought to do it with scallions. I'll give it a try the next time we have some that we don't use immediately.

Troubleshooting and problem solving were among my best skills. That said prelit series/parallel Christmas tree lighting problems were tough to solve mostly because the circuit path was tough to follow. Let’s face it, I’m making excuses… blasted tree lighting beat me, I hated that tree anyway. Paul

An electrical challenge that you couldn't solve, Paul? I'm guessing that was the first and only one. My Dad used to do that with scallions.

Anyone notice the green onions/ scallions in the glass of water on the end table? We always seem to have them around and they survive and grow for several weeks if they get some sun. I may make an egg, bacon and cheese on toasted bagel sandwich in the morning and I always clip off a stem, chop it up and add it to the egg. Paul

The skirt is not a heirloom to my knowledge but I am forgetful. More likely a Walmart after Christmas sale. We bought the tree about 5 years ago on a after Christmas clearance sale at Home Depot because the one we were using some of the pre lit lights said uncle and I couldn’t get to the bottom of it so instead of going to the basement it went to the Johnson County landfill. Nice tree. Is the skirt a family heirloom?
