Yes, water is not cheap here. We we use outside with care. Our yard - has no grass. Our plants are a mixture of desert hardy succulents and those that are on a drip system. We are in a 2 year dry spell, with low winter rains again.
As for the hose, it is supposed to be sun resistant. What that means is that I get a couple of years out of it.
