I found The Asparagus

I've been looking for the first asparagus shoots and didn't see any until I looked at this shot of a cluster of raspberry leaves on my monitor. Talk about hiding in plain sight. Maybe I should have my vision checked.

Nope, you use a pump up sprayer at low pressure and a narrow stream and be strategic and surgical about what you spray, not broadcast spraying. I spray sneaky undesirables in my perennials often. If needed use a sheet of cardboard or plastic to shield desirables while you spray.

Back in the day farmers used weed wicks to paint glyphosate in the fields. Now days you cant get the real glyphosate (roundup) anymore. Might have had something to do with cancer and lawsuits. Damn that stuff really worked, like agent orange in Vietnam. Paul

Yeah, but won't that kill other plants that I want to keep?

A little 2 4 D might convince them to stay within boundaries. Mix to 110% spray twice… Oh Yea! Paul

And I cannot find that sprout again. I have spotted asparagus coming up in our primary patch (the shot above was in the vicinity of our secondary patch).

The raspberries have spread far beyond where I want them. I'm mulling how aggressively I want to pursue, um, dissuading them.

Like yourself I noticed the raspberry leafs and didn’t realize that’s what it was until I read your caption. Only after I read your caption did I see how good Mother Nature is at disguise.

I just went to the eye doctor with disappointing results, cataract advancement. New glasses don’t help much, old glasses made vision worse. Paul
