Flopsy's Finale

Death on our doorstep this morning.

My veterinarian son admonished me for not wearing an N95 mask when I removed it with a shovel (I dropped it down a woodchuck hole and tossed in several shovelfuls of clayey soil). I'm now being monitored for Tularemia.

I'd rather look at the pies.

It's the first rabbit. I've dropped squirrels, chipmunks, groundhogs/woodchucks, and an opossum. It's probably not much of a deterrent, but it's hard to dig that deep a hole.

At our ages, aren't we monitoring ourselves all the time? I thought about a garbage bag (actually two) but didn't want our trash bin to become an attractive nuisance.

“Sorry dad I gotta run, I’m on the clock”. Seems like I’ve heard that one before!
Dead rabbit down the den entrance sounds like an interesting deterrent but I’m guessing this isn’t the first time you tried creative deterrents. Paul

I have remove a few bunnies from my daughter's house before - but none that were partially eaten. I too just used a shovel, gloves, and in her case a garbage bag.
BTW, I had to look up Tularemia.I am sure you are ok - fresh kill and cold weather kept the flies away. But probably better to be safe and monitor yourself for a couple of days.

We suspect it was a coyote that considered our front porch a safe place to enjoy its meal. Our son was first to spot it and alerted us so Mrs. Dave could avoid seeing the sight. He would have dealt with it had he not been scheduled for a shift at the animal hospital.

Did your dog present this as a present to you?!? My cat, before it passed, would serve up to me various lizards and a very occasional bird. Traveller
