09 Ducked Jeep

Ace Hardware Parking Lot

I had just gotten into my car after making a purchase at a local hardware store, when I spotted someone placing a duck on the driver's door handle of the Jeep Wrangler parked next to me.
I lowered my passenger window and commented how cool it was to be witnessing this. Scant minutes later, the Jeep's owner approached, and I again commented how cool it was to see this happening. The recipient almost certainly saw the giver but had no idea they were the generous party. Of course I said nothing to reveal their identity.

It’s a Jeep thing(saying that is another Jeep tradition).

Not being in the car community, it "flew right over my head".

I found this via a search on at AI net.

The small rubber duck in a red cap on a Jeep door handle is likely part of a fun and friendly Jeep community tradition known as "ducking." Jeep owners leave rubber ducks on other Jeeps they see as a way to spread smiles and positive vibes. The rubber ducks come in various styles and colors, and the one with the red cap might simply be a whimsical variant.

This tradition has grown in popularity and has become a way for Jeep enthusiasts to connect and share a sense of camaraderie. It's all about spreading joy and fostering a sense of community among Jeep owners.

Can you explain the significance or meaning of a duck in a red cap? on a Jeep door handle?

I am sure I am missing something.
