08 Tree Carving

Boulder

This has three animal figures: the little bear you can see, an owl at the end of the branch, and a bigger bear, whose head sticks out of the top (you can just see the profile here).

The snow adds a nice contrast and background to the image...lovely work by the artist and the photographer. Traveller

I too am amazed. I recall seeing a fellow start one with his chain saw. He just tore into the tree, chips flying everywhere. It was looking pretty good when I left him.

How do people do this, I’m simply amazed by the vision and talent of the artists. Two blocks away from us there was a large tree that was cut down and they left the stump about 8 feet high. Then a very talented artist used a chain saw to carve a free standing bear from it and engraved the family name in it also. It gets re treated with an oil stain finish every couple of years and looks great. Paul
