07 Home-Made Cappuccino in Home Made Cup

Boulder

I made this cappuccino, and my friend and colleague made the cup. She has been into pottery for the last couple of years, and always makes more things than she can use, so we have benefited to the tune of two cups and a plate recently.

I have a Nespresso machine but not frother (I also have a Moka Pot, a French press, and a drip coffee maker). I'll order an espresso, cappuccino, latte, or macchiato when I'm at a restaurant or coffee place. I like those recycling bags. I'm not sure the FedEx store does, though.

I've been drinking coffee since I was about 8 years old, and don't plan on giving up anytime soon! According to the studies that I choose to believe, coffee has all kinds of health benefits. :) It also tastes great, at least if you make it right. I have a Nespresso machine that makes great coffee every time. For a cappuccino, I use a double espresso capsule and froth some oat milk in the frother that came free with my machine (but I've just ordered a larger capacity one). Press both buttons at the same time, and about a minute later the coffee and frothed milk are both ready. Just pour the frothed milk over the coffee, and there you (or rather I) have it. A perfect cappuccino. They provide you with a postage paid recycling bag to send back the used capsules (holds about 80). They recycle the metal, and compost the coffee. I will use decaf occasionally, if we're making a fancy alcoholic coffee drink in the afternoon, or if we have guests who would like coffee after dinner, but don't want the caffeine that late in the day.

No banning by me. I drink decaf coffee only, and alternate it with hot chocolate and with mochas made with decaf and half and half.

I’m sure both of you could provide pro level guidance but I’m not a coffee drinker. Oops I shouldn’t have said “I’m not a coffee drinker”, now I’ll be on the verge of being banned from the group. Paul

Maybe Alastair can give you some pointers, Paul.

I take the package of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate dump it into a mug (ceramic no doubt) then put some water in the kettle, push the start button and viola in about 5 minutes a have a cup of….. oh wait you said cappuccino! Not a coffee or cappuccino drinker so I don’t know Jack. What is this drink you call cappuccino? Is that the stuff where you add a touch of white stuff and create a heart shape in it. Paul

What do you know about making cappuccino, Paul?

I know nothing about making ceramics, I’ve ran the electrical for a few dozen kilns over the years but as far as the actual process I have no clue. I’ve always wondered how the hand or finger loop on cups bond and stay connected to the body of the cups during the firing process. Paul

Both look good, and I could use that right about now.

It is very inviting.
