Our back yard is about 3/4 acre. When we came to look at the house, the kids ran around back and reported excitedly about it. We decided to look inside as well.

Hmmm. I went the other way. In MN, I started off with a large lot (~ 3/4 acre), almost all of it grass. I had a walking power mower. Lots of room for kids and dog to play on. When we became empty nesters, we built a home for us on a larger lot (1 acre) but with very little lawn, the rest thick with maple trees. The grass was easy and quick to cut. Then we retired and downsized in our move to AZ, with a lot that has NO grass - just landscape rock and desert plants. I don't miss cutting grass. I can see all the grass I want on the golf course.

While there are times I wish I had a lawn like that so I could mow it without a big machine, I do enjoy our space. 16 zones of irrigation, fed by a well with limited flow.

I too am an urbanite, an acre is like 43000 sq feet so I’m a wee bit short of that figure. My full lot size is in the 12000 range which includes the right of ways and easements. My mowable lawn is about 7200 and is in 3 sections. This is the mid size section.

Ask me to show you a photo of the same scene at the end August, it will look slightly different. Generally it recovers except for 2 years ago, I lost at least 60% due to the heat & drought so I added the irrigation system and did a major lawn overhaul. Two neighbors couldn’t let me get one up on them so they added irrigation systems after I did. I’m sure I heard them cursing expletives when they mentioned my name. Paul

This is, as an objective fact, a very beautiful lawn, however small.ish, I was certain that you had an acre of lawns around your house...maybe I was wrong? Thanks, Traveller
