Ari, you can certainly post something better than I, more interesting...go ahead, post a picture...have some fun. Best Wishes, Traveller

Visible scratch marks and divets show you have a good light angle. Nice work mate.

I am more like Paul. I follow the phrase from Nat Geo's Joel Satori who said "Work the scene".
In your case here, I would shoot multiple times, varying the shooting conditions like DOF (aperture), lighting, angle, etc.
You will eventually see one that you like above all others.

Dear Paul, I think I have made peace with this image. Whenever we shoot something I think both you and I are violently critical of the image, often unjustly so. I may shoot this again but with a tripod and formal macro lens, but maybe not.

I really want want to get out to Hollywood and see John Wick 4 this evening on a good screen LOL

I guess we all have our priorities. (grin)

Love, Nick

PS Your work is ALWAYS good and much, much more substantial than anything I might do...which is why you are admired.

T you’re right I do appreciate your efforts. Well lit foreground subjects and dark black well out of frame backdrop so it doesn’t show up in your capture, my MO. You’re on a roll so keep experimenting. I would leave my setup in place for days and days and shoot and reshoot countless times until I thought I had an acceptable image to show. Never ever did I feel I had the perfect capture, just acceptable Multiple strobes, remote triggers/power settings and soft box or brollies and U B the man. Count on my vote, maybe a 1.5. Paul

Please give us some idea of scale.

Paul would understand this best I think, the beauty of a set shot is....that you can shoot it again and again. I woke up in the middle of the night and shot this...quickly, leaning against a door jam...this is Ok, maybe even good...but I think I may try this again. (Yes, quartz....and I think they are from Arkansas, Hot Springs...or one of those roadside rock stores heading south). Best Wishes, Traveller (I will go change the time on my camera Right Now!)

I’ll be dammed, you went to the diamond crater in Arkansas and dug up a huge one. I’m impressed and you’ll be set for life now. Paul
