16 Pumpkins on the Porch

Boulder, CO

Our son is with us for Halloween for the first time in eleven years, so we all carved pumpkins, like we used to when he was growing up. He has been living in Taiwan for the last two years (and several months), and become reasonably fluent in Mandarin. He tells us that his pumpkin (on the left) is a bi-lingual pun. Apparently, the words for "ghost" and "goose" are pretty close in Mandarin. The word on the left of his pumpkin is "ghost", and the picture on the right is supposed to be a goose (it's a lot better than I could do!), so his pumpkin says something like "ghost goose". The middle one is my wife's usual cat, and the right is pretty much the only pumpkin carving that I can do.
