A screen shot using the Flight Aware app during the storm the other night from my iPad. I measured the storm from Houston Tx up to Canada then rounding around the low pressure system down to Omaha and it was over 2300 miles. What a storm. And a nice visual as to how many birds were still in the air even with their numbers reduced due to the virus.
Yes, many of us are in the "canceled travel pain club". Our trip to Italy (of all places) was canceled. Supposedly, with the insurance, we will get our money back, but we haven't seen the actual cash yet from the travel company.
I feel your pain mr T, our June destination wedding cruise to Bermuda also was cancelled. The agent selling the package included cancellation insurance so we’ll get 100% back on that but the flightinto Newark NJ was United so we also get a voucher. Maybe we can use it but most likely a loss. Time will tell! Paul
Hi Paul, I really like this shot...always smart and information full is good. For me, I have just canceled two flights...Sicily is off, obviously, but Untied was real weird on this so you map wigs me out more than a little...1st, United says my flight from LAX to Dulles is canceled....too bad, but I insist that this was just a connector to get to Rome...too bad they say, my problem, it is my problem to get to DC.
Well...!
I know that Fumichino, Rome's airport is closed, and if not entirely closed, closed to me as a US inbound.
In the end, they canceled everything and gave me a credit in dollars that must be used before Feb 1, 2021...
The Wedding Cancellation flight back east for June was worse in some ways, but worse for the happy couple....no refunds for very expensive tickets...site for wedding is closed, no refunds...for flowers or anything.
So, kind of easy for me, bad for everyone else, (United only charged me $75 to restock my miles....I am unhappy about this in that my flight no longer exists of the dates chosen)
Enough of my bitching...lol
Traveller....but your image really troubles me still (grin)
To think I was 9 years old when they played and recorded that gig.
I also have a live ATC app and find it fascinating to have both running listening and following aircraft as they come and depart pretty much any airport in the world. Simple pleasures for simple minds.
