Dripping

I noticed a similar scene earlier in the day but didn’t have the time to try to setup and shoot it live so I recreated the scene in a studio environment later. Mother Nature did a much better job of providing photo ops, too bad I couldn't take advantage of the opportunity.

I agree. Mother Nature (I also capitalize) is the boss. Mr. Schultz had a durable camera.

Nice bridge. Dare I ask whether you were recording while driving? Costa Rica is beautiful. My son has seen more of it than I have. He'll be returning for another visit in January. We saw howlers in Peru. I stupidly forgot to record video of them. Quite a sound!

Yes, I also saw that motorcycle helmet with a blown hole in the top...scary. Here however is a guy thinking he's going to make a great tornado video...not so much.

And for Dave, Ecological Reserve and Research Station, Central Costa Rica (you asked about the howler monkey), made by me....lol

I hear comments a lot about being protected in automobiles because of the rubber tires. Better than being out in the open but a couple feet of rubber insulation is nothing to countless hundreds of millions of volts. Any lightning that can arc from thousands of feet in the air to ground can do anything it wants. Ahem, Mother Nature..... notice how I giver her respect by capitalizing her name! I don’t want to take any chances of getting on her bad side. I could tell you stories about the things I’ve seen going into homes and buildings after a major strike direct hit.

Paul -- thanks for the info, only the f/11 surprised me a bit. I thought it was a bit larger, more like f/6 or f/8.
Also, not mentioned before, you chose a great background.

Re Nature getting even. I was surprised when I read about the motorcyclist getting hit and killed by a lightning bolt last week; hit right in the head. I thought he would have been better isolated from ground with his tires. But I guess not.

Again I used Lightroom Mobile on the iPad, the free version, which I do like except it strips out the EXIF. I even went in and changed some settings and thought I had it but apparently not.

Anyway this was a typical setup, 6D, 100L at F11 1/45 on a tripod with a softbox very close and at a slight angle. ISO was 100 and the lens was at 1:15. I think at this point (image 16 of 79) I mixed some glycerin with the water to keep it from running right off which worked fairly well. Keep in mind that is where Mother Nature trumps any and everything I attempt.

Traveller, making comments like that about Mother Nature you should watch yourself the next time you go outdoors. She knows and has ways of getting even if you know what I mean. Paul

Your in studio creation came out very very well.
I really like the lighting on the drop (surprise surprise).
Could you share the EXIFs - esp the camera parameters?

Disagree...I am perfectly and absolutely certain that you considerably improved on Mother Nature! It is your way, it is Your Habit....Traveller
