Uncle Steve's ring
My dad's retirement ring
My dad got my uncle's ring when my uncle passed
I got them both when my dad passed.
I don't wear any of them.
I always heard the stories about rings and being on the job. If I wore my ring on the job it was just a mistake on my part. Looking at the wedding ring in this photo, I'm trying to figure out how it got so banged up. I don't remember ever wearing it. We said our vows, and by the next day it was in a box. If only I could remember my 20's. :D davev
Funny you mention your ring getting hooked on a door, let me tell you what happened to once. As a young electrician I needed to go into a attic and the scuttle hole access was in the garage. I told the home owner that I needed to get a ladder off the van to get in the attic, he insisted I use his, "it's right here". Reluctantly I agreed to use his 29 dollar rickety aluminum painters tray ladder. As I was coming down out of the hole his ladder shifted and fell over and my ring caught on a 16 penny nail prodding from the framing so I was hanging by my ring. Painful it was but fortunately I was young and had plenty of upper body strength where I could pull myself back up and release the ring. Then drop back down to the floor. Never again have I used a customers cheap ladder, not worth it. I couldn't wear the ring for months and months after that. I think it was about a year later when the wife finally said something like "it's been long enough, put your ring back on". Paul
I wore the pre wedding ring for a while, until it got hooked on door handle. My hand was sore for a week. After that, the only time I wear one is for some kind of function. Never tried the ankle bracelet, I think I'll try to avoid it. :D davev
I'm not one for wearing jewelry either. I have a watch and a wedding ring. That's it. Well, not sure if that sheriffs bracelet on my ankle is considered jewelry or not. ;-). Paul
