If you've never driven through the high plains in far western Kansas, I-70, that's something else to see. You can literally see for miles and miles and miles. In the spring it's the winter wheat and in the fall I love the sunflower fields. Paul.

Thanks, guys. IMO, this is one of the prettiest areas of Kansas.
BTW, this photo was taken at 78 mph out the side window while my wife drove. We had driven up from OK City, and lower part of the turnpike was perfect for her to spell me a bit and for me to shoot my "photo of the day". There were more cows out and about than I normally see on my passage through this area. I have another decent shot closer of the cows as they walked down the road you see.
I'll stick it in pending later.

Thanks, I really appreciate this view of Kansas....since I know nothing about Kansas...this is very instructional. (I am so very anti-gun, {having shot people myself for a living} but I guess I get it, the rationale, though I do believe that gun fetish has made the United States far worse than it should be. On the other hand, I really would kill people so it is far best I never have to be near that evil steel). Traveller

somewhere between Wichita and Emporia on the KTA I see. It can be real pretty outs there. And if you get off the interstate there are a few places that make you say " wow is this Kansas". One year we volunteered to help at the http://www.symphonyintheflinthills.org/ and really enjoyed it. We never volunteered again but we still enjoyed the day in the hills. The music was a little cultured for my taste, the front 5 rows of people were all in tuxedos.... I was in tshirts and shorts quite sweaty from working all day. Too bad you didn't have time to stop we would have taken you guys out for some great KC BBQ. Your packing a 9 mm Glock, right... Might need it in that part of town after dark ;-). Paul
