Midnight Party

Final edit, toned down the reds a touch using photoshop. Been crazy lately and don't have the time to sit down and really learn how to use Lightroom. Maybe a class at the local Junior college (JCCC) might be in order.

Actually I'm experimenting with toning down the reds right now using Lightroom. I didn't buy it a few months back but I re installed it as another trial to give it another go. I do like it and most likely will go ahead and buy it. I really like how it converts black and white. Paul

While this is good, I think I liked the 1st version a bit better.
Maybe tone down the red light a bit (next time you buy a new bulb).

Oh by the way, I had the red reflector bulb haphazardly placed and it fell to the concrete floor in my basement and for some mysterious reason it no longer works. Just maybe because it's now in pieces. I should clean it up but I'm thinking there's a shot in the mess on the floor. Hope the wife don't go down there, she'll be irate. Paul

It's the same glass but using the double exposure feature I shot the scene with a red light from camera left and background on then white light camera right on the next exposure. For some odd reason there were more distortions in background light through the glass this time so I had to soften them. Who knows maybe all I needed to do was rotate the glass a little. Paul

Did you change the glass? I quite liked this before but the glass seems more distinct now. Best Wishes, Traveller

I agree - don't change the bottle.
Shoot 2 shots, one with the new left side light, one without, and combine in PS?
If I had my Lightroom pc working, I might also try to just use the adjust brush on the glass, and brighten the shadows a bit.

That wouldn't work, it would produce the small point reflections and specular highlights that I'm desperately trying to avoid such as the ones I mentioned in Travellers war of the roses entry. I'd have to setup another soft light source on the left side the glass but at the same time find a way to flag it so it wouldn't shine on the bottle since I like the way it came out. Or better yet forget about it and leave it alone. Paul

Maybe a little flashlight in the glass from the top?

Thanks for the comments Jim, I was trying to emphasize the outline of the glass a little more and I may try again since it's a real simple lighting set up. Paul

This is really eye-catching. Nicely seen and nicely captured.
