I put a shot in pending

Not the best lens, or the best pp, but you get the idea.
And I wasn't going to get too close to these guys, as they aggressively defend their hive.

I was out on my walk yesterday in Madera Canyon on the trail we will take the 4th graders on starting next week. Just off the trail is a hive in one of the trees (photo later). Our leader is a naturalist and he said this was a hive of these Africanized bees.

My feeder is generally packed with about a dozen when they show up. I am not sure where the hive is, perhaps in one of the trees in the wash behind us. I may take the feeder down for a few days and let them go find someplace else.

I agree. One bee no problem, a hive... problem. Paul

I just looked on the net

and they sure look like it.

Yikes, I wouldn't know one if I saw one but I sure know the name. AKA Killer Bees. Where's a scorpion when you need one. Paul

I was told today that these could be African honey bees.
I am not necessarily happy about that.

Bees already, of course no doubt it's 70 ish there.
I went for a hike around Lake Olathe yesterday to try to photograph the bluffs since I know all to well I'd not find anything red this time of year. This much I can tell you the ice on the lake was angry and noisy. It was making some unusual sounds so I kept my distance from her just in case she was hungry and wanted to swallow me and camera alive. Paul
