Thanks, Georgia, Traveller and Jim. I've been driving by this area a lot recently and finally took the time to stop and take a photo. A bit of trivia: Jane Mansfield died in a car wreck near here around 2:25 am on June 29, 1967. Mansfield had been in Biloxi, Mississippi, for an evening appearance at the Gus Stevens Supper Club. After her show, she headed to New Orleans where she was scheduled to make an appearance the next morning on one the New Orleans' TV stations. Among others in the car with her was her daughter, Mariska Hargitay, who currently plays Detective Olivia Benson on the NBC television drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Mansfield's car struck the rear of a trailer on a truck that had slowed for a mosquito fogging truck. The car went under the trailer and the three adults in the front seat were killed instantly; three children in the rear of the car (including Mariska), survived with minor injuries. - Ken
