K & db - take a look at my comparisons with different px size and compression (file size).http://www.pbase.com/jimmsp/test_pbase
imo, the photo size in pixels dominates.
You should upload at 1200 px wide, and 300k file size - and I'll bet you will be happier.

I fully agree with you, Daniel. Open saying, after I started to present my pictures in high-resolution mode, I'm more than unhappy with their low-resolution versions. I even not sure that 500K limit can save the quality. In any case, I am with you ... Sorry, that because of my busy schedule I became rather a seldom guest here.

Thanks, K, for your compliment on my entry; I sure am glad (and proud) you like the picture! As far as image size goes: my last initiative (two years and a half ago) made me swallow a few unfriendly remarks from «co-challengers», but resulted in an (albeit modest) limit increase from 200k to 300k; this time, IMO, 500k should be what we aim for ... especially if you consider the «megapixel capacity» of nowadays' dSLRs. Knowing you—and maybe a few others, who knows?—are prepared to back such a request, I'd start the corresponding «campaign» immediately. Your shoulder is, of course, most thankfully accepted!! ;-)) db.

Daniel, let me correct the 'unfairness' :-) - this is great and moody picture. I like the gentle colour of the sky and fine nuances of clouds structure.
I also fully agree with your point regarding image size, same as you - I am quite unhappy with the quality of re-sizing down to 300K. You have my shoulder ...
K
PS. Thanks for the kind words regarding the K-style-wise association considered as a compliment - this is the most pleasant comment I have ever heard.

OMG: so many words down here in the «comments» section, but not a lot said about my image... ;-)) Anyway: I do appreciate your kind first remark about «steel grays» and «warm oranges», Traveller; and I do agree on having a picture «style-wise» associated with K's is a compliment. As Shakespeare and you say: *All's Well That Ends Well*! (BTW: If, as you say, you like the *size* of my entry, you might be ready to start fighting *with* me—shoulder to shoulder, *not against* me!—for a further extension of the max. weight limit for cic-entries?)

I also made sausage-chicken gumbo tonight...so I am crazy. I apologize to Daniel.

Traveller (I can't stop picking at it, even after dinner).

Oh, Take me out and shoot me!!!!!!!

This is Daniel's, I knew this but....for some reason, on my second look at it, I associated the style with that of k...which is a compliment. Also the image is a nice size on my monitor and sometimes I wished that Daniel's images were larger...as this is...

All's Well That End's Well
