I feel this too tightly framed. I'd like to see just a little bit more of the pretty face of the instrument. I like the angle, patterns and textures...

Terrific comp and technical execution - even the light works wonders here. -tv

Michael, it is not exactly what I had in my mind when I thought about the thema for the challenge but the image is absolute on topic - casual something showing in an interesting & creative way. Like the image - good composition and nice colors and curves.

It's a Chinese made mandolin Charlie. Chinese instruments used to be cheap, mass produced and only suitable for beginners. They are still making such instruments (especially violins) but they are also now turning out some higher quality items that are good value. Eastman is one of the better known brands. Take a look inside the at the label, it should tell you everything you need to know.

Great photo. But I have to ask, what is it? For my part, I play (on rare occasion) a 12 string Ovation guitar. Your instrument has eight strings, but they are in pairs, like the 12-strings are in pairs. Is this a mandolin?

Thanks Sharon.
No, but music has been a lifelong hobby. I'm playing this instrument in an Irish band that does occasional gigs. Regards, Michael

K, I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind. It's certainly from my daily life though, as it was lying on my kitchen table. Regards, Michael
